AN ENIGMA

AS MY CLOSER FRIENDS KNOW, I LIKE POETRY, SO, HERE YOU CAN READ A GREAT POEM WRITTEN BY THE MASTER EDGAR ALLAN POE

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

MITHOLOGY

EY, I FOUND AN INTERESTING IRISH LEGEND, AT THE ENGLISH MAGAZINE, SO, CHECK IT UP

The Mythology of Fairies: An Irish Legend
by John Hill

Many years ago in ancient times, as children played on the dew kissed emerald hills of Ireland, a great dark shadow fell upon the earth. As the villagers ceased in their daily labors to peer up into the sky their very hearts also ceased to beat in their chests. There, in the once crystal sky, a great black cloud was descending and upon it stood a terrifying glimmering army of soldiers too many to number. As the great cloud molested the earth, the very ground shook as the glimmering army set foot upon the land.

Thus begins the Irish legend about the Tuatha De' Daanan.

SURVEYS

WELL, TALKING ABOUT SURVEYS, I FOUND INTERESTING DATES ABOUT STUDENTS SATISFACTIONS IN UNIVERSITIES AT THE UK, THINK ABOUT IT.

National Student Survey 2008

UEA 2nd for student satisfaction!

Student satisfaction rises yet again

Student satisfaction figures for 2008 published by the Higher Education Funding Council for England show that University of East Anglia is bettered only by Cambridge and on a par with Oxford, among mainstream English universities.

For the fourth year in succession – ever since the National Student Survey began – students have given their UEA courses a ringing endorsement, but this year’s 92% overall satisfaction figure is the University’s best ever result.

“We recruit good students, we have excellent staff and teaching facilities and we continue to improve the services we offer in response to regular feedback from our students,” said Vice-Chancellor Professor Bill Macmillan.

“Whilst we are delighted with our performance, which is a tribute to our hard-working staff, we intend to redouble our efforts to fulfil the University's objective 'To provide a student experience that is second to none in the UK'."

UEA’s Drama students are the most satisfied in the UK, while Pharmacy and Psychology students place their courses joint top.

Teaching staff were singled out for high praise in a number of departments. One hundred per cent of Politics and American Studies students and 99% of Medics say their teachers are particularly good at explaining their subject.

The National Student Survey is an annual survey which asks final year students how satisfied they have been with their courses.
